Please join me for the 2nd Annual Health Resource Fair on Sunday, November 17th, at the Berryessa Community Center from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bring your family for free flu shots, dental examinations, vision exams, blood pressure and glucose checks, and receive information on Hepatitis B, stroke senior services, and much more! Please note that access and supply of some of these health screenings may be limited and will be provided at a first come, first serve basis. Light snacks will also be provided. For more information, please call my office at (408) 535-4904 or email district4@sanjoseca.gov. You can view the flyer here.
The 3.2 acre park, located at the corner of Jackson Avenue and Commodore Drive, will have a children's play area and play structure; an adult exercise fitness area; parking; and benches, picnic tables, and walkway that will take you around the park within city land. The groundbreaking ceremony took place earlier this year on March 9th. I am happy to report that Commodore Park is opening a month before expected completion date. I would like to thank the community for your patience, City staff, and Pulte Homes for making this possible.

The second community meeting regarding the Tramwell Crow Development at Nortech & Disk Drive will occur on Tuesday, November 14th. Planning Department staff will facilitate this meeting to give residents an opportunity to learn more about the planned development and ask any question. If there are any additional questions please contact Rebecca Bustos at rebecca.bustos@sanjoseca.gov.
A community meeting regarding the proposed dog park will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Berryessa Branch Library – Community Room. At our last community meeting, residents were asked to rank their preferred choice for a dog park. I also conducted an online survey and received feedback from over 200 residents. Cataldi Park was overwhelmingly selected as the preferred site. Staff from the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services will be presenting on the new site and providing next steps to move forward with this project.
The Mayor's Gang prevention Task Force will be hosting a townhall meeting to address gang activity and violence. All San Jose residents are invited to attend. The Central Division (the area west of highway 680) community forum will be held on Thursday, November 14th, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Roosevelt Community Center (901 E Santa Clara St). Residents are given the opportunity to share their concerns and provide input on the City of San Jose's effort to prevent and suppress local gang activity.
Start Thanksgiving Day off on the right foot at the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot.
